Assalamu Alaikum and peace be upon you!
The MSA is pleased to launch its General Meeting! Join us next Thursday to learn about MSA positions, learn about the amazing events we have planned this semester, and find out how you can be active and involved with your UBC Muslim community! This is also a chance to make new Muslim friends.
This event is open to everyone. If you’re interested in learning more about Islam or meeting Muslims, we welcome you to join us!
Refreshments will be provided. We look forward to seeing you 🙂
This workshop will include topics such as:
-Increasing awarness (of underdiscussed topics)
-Responding to disclosures
-Resources on & off campus
-Action plan for survivors’ friends & family
It’s the week before Reading week. It’s been brutal, Midterms on your mind and so much lovey dovey stuff in the air you practically had to a astaghfirullah your way through it all.
But that Benedictine-monk like discipline won’t last very long–and the only thing keeping you together is your mom’s food. We get it. The struggle real. Which is why we’re going to get seriously fun this Friday and make it all up to you.
JOIN US! For a (halal as much as possible) night even Valentine himself would wish he could name himself after.
Refreshments, Improv and a chance to be featured in MSA’s awesome photo collection!
Assalamu alaikum y’all!
We are so excited to invite you guys to the first girl’s night this semester! MSA would like to warmly welcome you an evening of fun and games!
We will have our social from 5:00 – 7:30 pm. We will be having free dinner (yes, we said free food), a discussion with Hafsa Dean and your friends, and a ton of games!
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information about the MSA, feel free to visit our website: msaubc.org.
Hope to see you at our girls night, InshaAllah,
MSA UBC Sisters Social Team
Asalamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
On February 1st of every year, International Hijab Day is celebrated around 140 countries. This symbolic event encourages women of all religions and backgrounds to try on hijab – the Islamic headscarf- and experience it for a day! With recent waves of Islamophobia, this is also an opportunity to stand in solidarity with Muslim women and Muslim victims of hate crimes. The UBC Muslim Student’s Association invites you to join us this year in celebrating the hijab and uplifting Muslim women!
With the goal of spreading awareness of identity and unifying the UBC community through a shared experience of culture and connection, we invite you to our booth on the ground floor of the Nest this Wednesday from 10 am- 3pm to talk to some friendly Muslims, try on one of our colourful headscarves (for free!), or to learn more about the hijab and what it stands for. We look forward to greeting you!
Assalamualaikum Waramatullahi Wabarakatuhu,
MSA UBC is ending off Summer ’16 with our annual Summer BBQ.
The BBQ is the perfect event if you’re new to campus, Vancouver or Islam. Come on out and meet the community, make new friends and catch up with old ones at beautiful Jericho Beach Park, conveniently near campus!
We’ve got something for all ages so no one from the youngest child to the oldest uncle will be bored! There will sporting events such as soccer, badminton and ultimate frisbee for brothers and sisters. In addition, we are preparing a children’s program to make sure the kids are entertained!
Good food and good company are guaranteed regardless of weather, so bring your family and friends for this memorable summer day!
The MSA is excited to be participating in Lace Up for Kids once again this year! We have raised hundreds of dollars this year and invite you to celebrate with us. Join us tomorrow for some festive ice skating, games and overall fun! If you would like to donate to BC Children’s Hospital, please message us or sign up at laceup.ca (our team name is MSA UBC)
Also, skates go fast- so come early to get your pair!
The MSA would like to warmly thank you for your contributions during Breast Care Awareness season and helping us raise $301.75 (yes, every cent counts) towards research! Here are some snippets from our “rosy* afternoon. 🙂 Stay tuned for more events to come on giving back to the community.
